Sigh...Today my school had a Career Fest kinda like thing. Well it was really good. I had a really good idea of where I wanted to go in my life time. I wanted to go to the RMC at first and then come back as a lawyer or a police officer. But then I changed my idea. I wanted to join the Calgary Highlanders for a year or some time and then go join the Calgary police department. But that doesn't need a university degree or anything like that. So I really have no clue anymore. My parents, friends, youth leaders, well all the people I know say I should go to university. But the problem is that to be a officer I don't need a university degree. I don't need one to join the Calgary highlanders or anything like that. So right now i have no clue where I'm gonna go in life no more. And the if I do go to university it would have to be local for YAC and so I can keep connected with church and friends. Well this has been on my mind for a while, well even before the career fest thing. X( .
The David Formula
Life + high school + Graduation + David = X_X
Life + high school + Graduation + David = X_X
I AM SO LOST DUDE....
......anyone got any advice??

University is good and all... but it's not for everyone. In our society, in our culture, the expectations is that everyone should go to university. Well... not everyone is meant to be an academic and go to University and graduate from a university.
I wasted 3 years (academically wise) at UofA and now I'm at SAIT. Does that mean I'm not as smart or I'm not as good? not at all. it just means I have different interests. Different learning styles. Different motivations.
The thing with making this decision is. YOU know yourself better than others should know you. Most people are telling you to go to University most likely (as I cant make any assumptions) because they want you to reach for something higher. As a leader, as a parent, you'd want your student/kid to reach as high as they can go cause even if they can't reach the very top, they're able to reach the top of their potential. If you encourage someone to reach for the lowest rung of a ladder... there's very little chance that they'll be able to grab hold of something higher that might be within their reach... Does that make sense?
As for staying local to be connected. All I can say with that is... I wished that too... but God had different plans for me. Do not close any doors. Be open to anything... keep all doors open. And then pray and let GOD close the doors for you.
"I can do everything through him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13.
as long as you can afford that ferrari for the trip around the west coast haha...
well, do what you like, it's your life to live. And having a univeristy degree is something good to fall back onto if your other plans fail.
Diddo on the anonymous's scripture....
it all seems confusing but "Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all of your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight." Proverbs 3:5-6
Plus I think if you are meant to be a YAC leader (which I have a good feeling about), God will keep you around.... :)
keep your options open =)mmm lets see... just take whatever high school courses you like... and that'll probable help you in the future.
God helps those who help themselves =) so just follow whatever you feel like following...that should make sense?
